OUTDOOR BLIND VISION ENHANCEMENT - A SMART ASSISTIVE SYSTEM FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED

This project addresses the need for visually impaired individuals to navigate independently in outdoor environments particularly from home to workplace. There is a need to provide the real-time information about their location to make them to navigate independently. There is a need to improve transportation accessibility for the visually impaired by enhancing object identification, particularly for buses and their numbers in outdoor environments. On reaching the bus stop, among several buses crossing, they need to identify the Bus that reaches the Karumathampatti. The Bus numbers 20A (Gandhipuram to Karumathampatti) and 90A (Ukkadam to Karumathampatti) has to be identified in this case as they stops at Peelamedu bus stop and reaches Karumathampatti.

PROPOSED METHODOLOGY

FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

Established the project foundation by configuring the necessary settings and dependencies in Android Studio, ensuring a perfect development environment for creating a location-based application.Initiated the development of a mobile application within the Android Studio environment with the primary objective of accurately identifying and displaying the user's current geographical location.

Google Classroom

Google Maps API is decided to use instead of OSM to improve the accuracy of location. The obtained latitude and longitude values are accurate. But conversion to human readable address is less than expected. To address this, Map My Indias Reverse Geocoding API is integrated.
